What are you doing with what God has given you

What Are You Doing with What God has Given You?

A father once called his three sons, gave $100 each, and asked them to buy something that would fill up a room completely.

The first son bought heaps of dry straw, but he did not have enough to fill the room. The second son bought sacks of feathers, but he too could not fill the room. The third son bought a candle and a box of matches. When he lighted the candle, the light filled the entire room.

Now, pause for a second and ask yourself - "Why did God generously give me so much opulence?"
It is to equip us to serve Him, and serving Him is a blessing. Therefore, we need to put to good use of what He has given us.

The Skandh Purāṇ states:
nyāyopārjita vittasya daśhamānśhena dhīmataḥ
kartavyo viniyogaśhcha īśhvaraprityarthameva cha
"From the wealth you have earned by rightful means, take out one-tenth, and as a matter of duty, give it away in charity. Dedicate your charity for the pleasure of God."
